The 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict or 2006 Hezbollah-Israel conflict is a series of ongoing military actions and clashes in northern Israel and southern Lebanon involving Hezbollah's armed wing and the Israeli Defense Forces. On 12 July 2006, Hezbollah's armed wing initiated their Operation Truthful Promise[1]. Eight Israeli soldiers were killed and two were captured. Israel then responded with Operation Just Reward[2], later renamed Operation Change of Direction. The Lebanese government claimed no responsibility or knowledge of the act commited by the armed Shiite faction Hezbollah, and is crying desperately for a cease fire by all sides. The Israeli operation has resulted in the destruction of a large percentage of the Lebanese civil infrastructure. Moreover, it is resulting in the exodus of more than half a million innocent civilians from their homes. On the other side of the border nearly half a million Israelis are staying in shelters fearing rocket attacks by Hezbollah fighters. The death toll has reached more than 20 Israeli civilians and over 300 Lebanese civilians. The level of destruction that has hit Lebanon has been described by the country's Prime Minister Fuad Seniora as "unimaginable". Seniora sent a desperate cry for the world to help stop the violence, and pressure Hezbollah and Israel into an immediate ceasefire so that peaceful negotations might occur. Until this moment, Israel hasn't agreed to a ceasefire.Hezbollah was offered a ceasefire and rejected it. [3]

Lebanon has been a major crossroads of civilizations for millennia, so it is unsurprising that this small country possesses an extraordinarily rich and vibrant culture. Lebanon's wide array of ethnic and religious groups contributes to the country's rich cuisine, musical and literary traditions, and festivals. Beirut in particular has a very vibrant arts scene, with numerous performances, exhibits, fashion shows, and concerts held throughout the year in its galleries, museums, theaters, and public spaces. Lebanese society is modern, educated, and perhaps comparable to European societies of the Mediterranean. Lebanon is a member state of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie. This is why most Lebanese are bilingual, speaking Arabic and French; however, English has become popular, especially among university students. The country is not only where Christianity intermingles with Islam, but Lebanon is also an Arab gateway to Europe and a European bridge to the Arab world.

Lebanon also hosts several prestigious universities, including the Lebanese University, the American University of Beirut, the Université Saint-Joseph, and the Lebanese American University.

Several international festivals are held in Lebanon, featuring world-renowned artists and drawing crowds from Lebanon and abroad. Among the most famous are the summer festivals at Baalbek, Beiteddine, and Byblos.

Because if you read a little lore in depth about what is happening over there. The Lebanese Government really hasn't done anything! A terrorist group in the Lebanon has kidnapped two Israeli soldiers....
Why would you want t o nuke a country of people that haven't committed any crime against you.
Also....take a look at the map....you Nuke Lebanon, Israel will probably go with it!

What war will be over quickly with the use of nuclear weapons? Your assumption is nuclear detonation confines itself to damaging targets. So the radiation clouds that travel over Syria, Iraq, Iran, Central Asia, China.....those won't bug anyone right? Won't cause them to retaliate (in kind) against Israel? Won't kill millions of innocent people (Israelis as well). Have you ever experienced a nuclear detonation? Likely not.

Nuclear weapons (or the threat of) no longer have the ability to end wars, but they have a canny ability to start and prolong them. Better to let the professionals handle this one buddy.

aha, are you that same internationally known and universally respected allanwells who, in a different question i read recently, stated; "jews make me puke"? if so, i'd like to pay homage to your wit and insightfulness---NOT. but, anyway, you appear to be hedging your bets, so to speak, by seeming to be acting as a strategist for the "by you loathed jewish state". are you confused; bipolar, a crazed gemini, what's up? or, are you so clever and devious that you hope by israel's using the nuclear option the entirety of the world will come crashing down upon them? such a clever young man. i think most would agree you're just being amusing, and that you know your question is rhetorical, eh? just an agent provocateur in training, i would guess. and, can you spell s o c i o p a th?

nah, that would make the Arabs too happy. It would give them lots of reasons to all go to war against Israel and against us....
hmm. now that I think about it, that might not be such a bad thing if we nuked the whole middle east, give it all to Israel and make a deal with them to sell us oil for $5/barrel.
The problem is that a lot of other countries would go nuts about that... so we're stuck with trying to surgically remove the terrorist cancer which we already know it is in methastasis and has spread to just about every shithole on the face of the earth.

You really think that will end the war? That will just bring more countries into it. And I guess you don't care about the innocent people in Lebanon.

Well, nuking anybody is not the answer.

But, I think Israel should be left off their leash to clean up the middle east.

First things first.
NO ONE repeat no one wants to use nukes.
The next thing is that even if they did then it would mess them up to because the area is side by side with their own land.
So they would be not only killing them but themselves as well.
