If someone killed my child due to malice or stupidity I would hate them. It would be beyond my power not to hate them and I would have to live with that hate. Does it make it right? Maybe not but it's also not right for anyone to ask me not to hate them so, for me, it would be acceptable.

I live in a city with a huge Armerian population. After countless incidences of many different Armerian people acting like rude, arrogant, self-absorbed @$$holes, who think they are the most important people on the planet, I have said "I hate Armenians." Now, does this mean that every single Armenian person is bad? Does this mean that I treat them differently when first meeting them? Of course not. There are several Armernian people that I like. But, every time an Armenian person does something to piss me off (and it happens all the time) I just chalk it up to stereotypical Armenian behavior. And I hate that behavior.

wow, such a strong question and I have had the same conversation with other peeps myself.
Hate is such a strong word, and unless someone is in the situation where hate is involved, I guess it would depend on the person.
My thing is if your daughter, sister, mother was raped or murdered, would u be able to hate the assailant enough to have them dead or have the compassion for them to have them healed?
I think it all depends on how hard your heart is really. Do you destroy another life for vengence? or care for the human with the dillusions of a life we don't know?
Do we just hate those that do us wrong or have compassion for their ignorance?
Hate is such a strong word, and usually a temporary feeling.
I guess if you truly "hate" something, you would be actively doing something to deter that from happening again, it would stir some kind of passion in you.
To have hate u have to have the opposite.

I try not to hate anyone. It takes a lot of energy to hate. You need to justify hatred. You don't need a reason to love.
Of course it's easier said than done. When I think of people like the BTK Killer or Ted Bundy, I feel seething hatred. Is it justified? Of course it is. People who enjoy the suffering of others are just plain sick and wrong.
At the same time, if I had the opportunity to spend some quality one on one time with Dennis Rader (the btk killer) I'd kill him slowly. Does that make me just as bad as him?
Some people are just rotten to the core. It's hard not to hate them. But is it justified? Is it okay to hate a rapist or child killer? I think it is.

Hatred is probably the most used, and ignorant emotion known to mankind. People tend to hate either for personal reasons, or out of jealousy. I think in order for one to hate a certain person or people, they would have to have directly or indirectly had an effect on them. For instance, the people of Palestine, and Palestinians living in other countries tend to "hate" Israelis. You cant blame them however seeing as the Israeli army kills Palestinian civilians as if they were game in the woods. Murder, Rape, and pain/suffering caused to a person or someone close to them usually sparks a wave of hatred/regrettable actions.

hiding behind religion? what religion are you? sorry to say it but the bible and torah are filled with god commanding men women and children to be slaughtered. what i hate most in people are hipocraitical people. no matter what you believe in. i also hate it when people talk about things which they have no understanding in. like downing someone or supporting some thing when they have no clue what they are talking about. i do not hate the people i hate their actions. even the worse people can somethings become good people later on in life. we are not god to judge them and condem them. all the ones you listed above are good reasons to hate a person logically

There are no justifications for hate towards a person or people.
End of story. (and yes horrible things have happened to me that could cause me to hate if I didn't feel there is no justification for hate.)

Nothing should justify HATE. It is the worst of all humanity. Disapprove, be disgusted, but don't hate.

Yes, the fact is that people DO hate, but that doesn't automatically assume there is "any" justification!
In fact, there is none!
