The Russian Suprematist art movement painted only different kinds of blank canvas. Their most famous and greatest work was Malevich' 'White on White'.

After the Bolshevick revolution the Communists felt so threatened by these paintings that any Suprematists who were captured were executed or thrown into prison for life sentences.

This art was a lot more serious than the kind of thing Tretchikoff paints.

Some guy put a blank canvas into an exhibition in San Fransisco and it sold for something ridiculous like 15000 dollars.

Try the Tate Modern. I'm sure they paid a few million for it too. Divine inspiration was that. It's probably called "purity" or something equally token cheesy. ;o)
