Although it is indeed a religion, racism is like a craze or a fad just now and everyone wants to get in on it! Disapproving of or not accepting Islam (or any religion/culture/country) is fine, but doing it in an insulting manner towards the people of that religion/culture/society is racist. So therefore being anti-Islamic is fine (in the sense that you can not like Islam as a religion) but being anti-Muslim is racist because you are saying this about a group of people.
I, personally, am sick of racism - I am not just annoyed by people saying offensive words, but I am just p*ssed off about hearing about it. Too many people are saying "Oh that's racism" - it's the whole crying wolf story - too many people are crying racism (back to what you were saying - Islam is a religion, but now people are looking for anything to be used to get into this racism fad) and now people are getting bored of it.

Intolerance. Give these guys a break already, We've been illegally invading and bombing their countries for years.
The terrorists are funded by Iran and Syria and the Israeli army is funded by the US.
I am not a muslim or a christian, I have worked in the US and I have worked in the middle east EVERYONE IS THE SAME. There are some intollerant people and a lot of really nice people. Islam is a religion of peace as much as Christianity is.
There's your problem, if people have blind faith they are easily turned around by manipulative elements.
So it's not racist but it is bloody stupid.

Being anti-Islamic is likely somewhat based on racism. In essence, you're anti Arab more than you're anti-Islamic. Arabs don't even make up a majority of Muslims. The majority is made up of Asians, South Asians, Africans, and Europeans.
If you truly simply disagree with the religion, that's fine, I suppose. But I prefer to be anti-violence and anti-propoganda no matter what religion is propagating it.

It is not considered 'racist', but it is considered 'discriminatory'. The followers of Islam (Moslems) come in all colors, shapes and sizes, and they can be found in every city on every continent on the planet, so it Islamic people cannot be truly considered as a specific race.
The reason some confuse it with racism is that they mistakenly equate Islamic (religion) with Arab (race).

I answered a Q like this, so if you don't mind I'll cut-&-paste my earlier answer:
I'm not racist against Muslims because Islam is not a race. It's a religion that calls for every living soul on Earth to convert to Islam or be slaughtered. Like many people, I tend to be a little bit prejudiced against people who swear to kill me unless I go to their church.

Let me first say, i am an atheist. The islamic religion has many parts to it and not all of its followers are bad people. Its like saying you hate all americans because theyre army fights in iraq, or you hate all whites for being rascists or all blacks for being "gangstas." None of these stereotypes are true, the majority of all these races are nice, good, smart people.
Rasicm is defined as; racism |ˈrāˌsizəm| noun the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, esp. so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. • prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on such a belief. Hating someone for their beliefs IS rasicm. Last time i checked, racism was against the law.

The christian religion is not a race, so dopeyshit is wrong there. and Im not so sure bout the jewish religion. Your not racist if your against the muslim religion, but since that would include a big percentage of middle easterns some would say You are. But I dont blaim you, any religion supporting Ji-had I would be against.

Oh and to smiling sam... not every islamic person is a fundamentalist who wants to kill you... and just as many christians say similar things... like if your not a christian you go to hell.
