All of a sudden lately he just wants me to hold him. I can't put him down because he cries like he is really sad. And he has no fever, diaper changed, just took a nap... help?

Maybe separation anxiety i have 2 girls and babies go through different phases just like adults(LOL). When he's crying comfort him and let him know things are okay. Also try playing peek-a-boo with him that helps teach them that everything is okay when your not in sight. I know it might be frustrating but believe me it'll pass. GOOD LUCK

Sometimes they just want to be held and comforted. It can become a ploy for your attention so don't let him control you too much. You can sit there and talk to him while your doing something else like folding clothes or whatever. Maybe just rocking the infant seat or giving him something to look at will distract him. There is a chance he's got gas and it's uncomfortable. Lay him on his belly across your lap and rub his back. This is a good way to help the gas pass out of him. Pay attention to what he eats. There is a possibility allergies can come on even after a regular diet of formula or breast milk. Make sure he is burped real good. If he cries for more than 10 minutes straight pick him up and try to find out whats wrong. If he cries for seven minutes or so and then stops before he starts again it's probably just attention he's wanting. Play some music and see if that calms him. It's tuff to figure out when they can't tell you whats wrong. Keep your patience. Good Luck. You'll do fine. Crying is upsetting but it won't kill him. Just a reminder, don't take offense please, but don't shake him. It can harm his brain and even kill him. If you feel like the stress is making you crazy call a friend or family to help for a little bit. You can do this. Have faith in yourself and your instincts.

Maybe it's as simple as he wants you to hold him. My son has gone through a few different phases like that (he's a year now) where he just can't accept being put down. It's frustrating, but there's probably nothing wrong with him. If his eating habits or sleep habits change, then you should call the doctor. But if he only cries when you put him down, it's just cause he loves you and doesn't want you to leave him. All kids get abandonment issues at one time or another.

My son is 4 months old as well... a lot of times he could have a little gas stuck that is usually why he will not want to be lying down because it hurts... try getting all the gasses out before putting him down. Also he could still be hungry maybe you could adjust the amount he is eating, whether it be breast milk or formula... Or another problem that he needs to see the pediatrician for... stomach ache or something of that nature... Also teething, my son started teething at 3 months and already had 2 teeth coming in... that is painful for them so you should give him teething rings

teething maybe...perhaps he just doesn't feel well. He may just be in a real bad mood. But before you run off to the doctor review everying your child has eaten and what possibly his stool looked like (normal). check for bumps or bites. You could try a baby massage with warm baby oil. Kids and grown ups love that!! In the end take your son to the doctor.

Thinks he wants to know you're still about. I know it is really hard work and takes a lot out of you, but just give him a cuddlle, put him down, maybe on the floor and stay near so he can see you.
Try and enjoy these days as they DO go fast and try and be relaxed yourself as he will pick up vibes!

My kids both cut their first teeth at four months, so it could be teething. It seems to hurt them before you can actually see anything in their mouthes. You could try a little infant tylenol and see if that helps. Good luck!

If there's tears, then he's sad and just wants to feel secure by you holding him. If there's no tears, he's just taking advantage of you. Just because he looks sad doesn't mean he is. If there's no tears, then he's not really upset he's just looking for attention.

Could be colic, put his stomach on your breast with a little bit of pressure and see if it helps.
Or could be gas, see if his stomach is tight and if it is give him some mylocan drops.
And he could be teething, get some oragel.

Bring him to a doctor. Baby's tell you something is wrong with them when they cry. Might be an ear infection or colic.
