I started watching SImpsons when I was 9. My brother was 7. Bart was 10 and Lisa was 8. We were the same age and in the same grades and we could so relate to the characters. They always cheer me up. I can't wait until the movie comes out next year. Been waiting for forever.

1. The Simpsons.
2. While Family Guy is funny in general (albeit a great deal of low brow humor..), Simpsons is more subtle commentary in some cases, with smarter humor. Plus it has proven staying power. On Family Guy, Peter is a moron, Lois is somewhat psychotic, Chris is like-father-like-son, and Meg is a whiney brat. Brain and Stewie are the only two main characters with any potential substance to them. The entire family of the Simpsons is more developed as to their personalities. Yes they have their stereotypes they fall into... Lisa the know-it-all. But she is more than that... Meg is just whiney, period, and that's it.

1) I prefer The Simpsons.
2) I started watching when it was on the Tracey Ullman Show. I caught it channel surfing and then started watching on a regular basis just for those short bits. It was the best show on TV from about 91-94. It is still good today, but it reached its peak years ago. It lost a lot of great characters when Phil Hartman died. Family Guy is at times funny, hilarious, sensational then down right boring. The Simpsons are better at their worst than Family Guy at its best.

I will go with the Simpson's even though I like both a lot. The writing is more subliminal on the Simpson's, they are making fun of the world right under your nose and getting away with it. Family guy is all over the board but very funny. When I don't feel like thinking to much I like family guy for all the pop culture references. But the Simpson's hands down is my favorite. M/32

I'll be 20 tomorrow.
Well I hate the new Simpsons with a passion, but anything from 2nd season to 11th season is better than anything ever made.

Tough one.
1) Family Guy
2) The early Simpsons (Seasons 1-6) were hillarious, however; after that the show went into a cruising pattern of revolving character lines that seemed to be less story driven and more character gags (...Shrimp...grahaaaaaaaa). While the Family Guy is always story driven, yet its main problem is interchangable non-sequitor type jokes interpersed in a usually banal base storyline. But yes it makes me laugh more.

because the Simpsons built they're show on solid stories that were genuinely funny and smart without having to reduce itself to slap-stick physical comedy.
