Amazingly, yes, if it loses conciesness, it's gills stop working and it drowns. If a shark stops swimming for too long it's gills stop working, so it always has to be moving.

If the water runs out of oxygen it will suffocate (not really drowning). Some types of catfish and Betta's need to get oxygen from the air above the tank. Not sure if they would drown if they were not able to get the air.

Yes and no. A fish can die underwater if there is not enough oxygen in the water. In this case, the fish actually suffocates - this is why there are so many instances of massive fish kills in lakes and ponds - the amount of oxygen decreased in the water enough to suffocate the fish.

Yes, I had a clown knife fish drown, cause he ate a fish with some rocks but didnt wanted to spit it out so he drown to death

It happens all the time. Ever heard of goldfish bowls? They use all the dissolved oxygen in the water and then suffocate.
