The 'new' Doctor Who is a BBC series that is in its second season. The episodes are showing on SciFi now but are a season behind BBC.
As for the season finale, in the orginal series it was common for the Doctor to regenerate. Clever plot device to allow for a change of actor in the lead role. His companions would also change over time as well.

I watch 1 or 2 episodes every season of Dr. Who and I have never seen an episode that I would call "good." In fact I've never seen one that I would even call "mediocre." The season finale was as bad as all the rest.

I've heard of it, and watched some episodes, but I don't think I've seen the finally. And I didn't really like the show too much. I think I was too young to enjoy it.

Yes, He has a time machine that looks like a phone booth but it is huge inside. It is a bit cheesy, I recomend Red Dwarf.
