You can drink several of them. If it has caffeine, then you should limit it to about 12 12 oz. cans of coke. Most babies can tolerate that much caffeine in the mother's diet. (Obviously, that wouldn't be good for *you*, but it's *safe* to do so!!) You can also drink up to 2 *normal* sized drinks (wine, beer, mixed drink) with no problem. And you *never* have to pump and dump for *any* but a very few drugs that concentrate in human milk. When a drug leaves your body, it *leaves* your body!! (Note: If you have temporarily removed your breasts, this no longer applies! :-) ) This is almost a direct quote from Dr. Thomas Hale, the world's foremost expert on drugs in breastfeeding (personal communication).
If you see that *your* baby has a problem when you drink caffeine (nearly impossible if it's one coke a day or less), then you may need to cut back further.

I have had two cokes since I had my baby, and I breastfeed a two and a half month old. I took no medications during pregnancy and birth. I gave birth at a birth center that had no drugs. She has had no drugs in her body since birth, and she rarely cries, sleeps through the night, and suckles well. You tell me, is it just me? I tried to do everything naturally. It was hard since I'm not that kind of person normally. The first time I drank a coke I was shaky to say the least. The second coke was a few days ago and I had no symptoms. One coke is better than many other things you could do, but one kid I know said his mom drank coke religiously when she was pregnant with him because she was a single mom and had to stay awake to do her normal routine. He was a high school graduate (no college) that became a religious pot smoker that did not respect women, and couldn't concentrate to save his life. He was kind of cute, but a loser. I'm not saying caffeine did this to him, but why do I want to take chances with my daughter? Let her put the caffeine into her own body if she so chooses. Who am I to supply it for her through breast milk? She depends on me for everything. So I try to stay away from all drugs and toxins.

It's funny how many people say not to drink anything that has caffeine but one won't hurt i even found that when i did drink a coke or Pepsi it helped produce more milk. So in my opinion i don't think it will harm anyone. But to all it's own.

It is best to cut out caffeine while you breast feed but I don't think one coke will hurt anything. Caffeine and alcohol can decrease your milk supply.

Yes, you will be fine. No caffiene or anything like that is an admirable goal. Most people can't keep themselves that ... motivated. I couldnt when I was pregnant. As long as you're not going overboard, nothing is going to happen unless of course for some reason you have an allergic reaction or something. LOL>
Nah, treat yourself, you deserve it. You're doing a great job being a mom! Congratulations!

I don't see why not. I drink one a day and sometimes 2 or 3 rarely more, and I've been breastfeeding 4 months up till now. I have a terrible Pepsi addiction.

of coarse, and you can drink a glass or a half glass of wine. you can eat what you want too as long as you eat healthy enough to sustain your weight, plus an extra 500 calories a day for the baby. i am not saying to drink a twelve pack a day, but a soda now and again won't hurt.....if you notice your baby seems super fussy after you have ate or drank something odd......then don't eat it again for a while and see if the fussy goes away. good luck and enjoy life and your baby!

Yes.
See the link below for more information.
One Coke should be just fine.
EDITED to add - Someone mentioned "pumping and dumping" in one of the answers farther down. There is NO REASON to "pump and dump" for caffeine OR alcohol.

If its what you want, then go for it. It should be just fine! If you're concerned you can "pump and dump" the breast milk for 24 hours after drinking it as they tell you to do once you've drank alcohol.
