Platys, mollies and swordtails are peaceful comminuty fish that come in a wide variety of colorful varieties. They don't get any larger than 2 inches, and are livebearers, so you have the joy of watching your little fishes become parents.

Cherry Barbs will get along fairly well with your tiger barbs and are generally a little less agressive, especially when in schools of 3 or more. They are a small variety, only getting to be an inch at adult size. As their name indicates, they are a pretty rose/orange color.

White Clouds and Zebra Danio. Both fairly nicely colored, and very peaceful community fish. Also quite hardy little guys, and can take some abuse (not that you would!).

Any tetra would be great. None of them get very large at all, and come in a wide assortment of pretty colors; the most popular being the Neon Tetra. They are again, a very nice, community fish.

There are other fish out there that fit your requirements, but the ones I listed are readily available at any petstore that sells fish.

Good luck to you!

Barbs are schooling fish. They need to be kept with other fish of their kind or they will be aggressive. When kept in a school they are preoccupied by the rest of the group and will hopefully leave your other fish alone. It is not a guarentee- they can be very aggressive.

A ten gallon tank is pretty small and they get to be big for a schooler. He will grow to be 3". I would suggest getting him two friends- both tiger barbs. That is 9 inches of fish, that is all your tank can support.

Check out the online resources available. Google tiger barb- they are aggressive and they should probably kept in a 20 gallon or larger. They need to be in a school- they are social fish.

Neon tetra's are a shiny fish, but they only grow to be a around 2". I like the Fancy Tail Guppies their colors are great and they give birth to live babies (You would need a place for the babies to hide or the parents will eat them). Another beautiful Fish is a red tail black shark, they grow to about 3-4" (they are not man eating sharks) Have fun with setting up the aquarium!

humm...i would suggest male guppies, they are really colorful and dont grow up to 3ins, i have a 12 gallon tank and i have 5 of them, really cool fish, love them and if you get females, they will give birth in about a month, unless you buy a pregnant female
