Im looking for something i can buy at gnc, safeway, etc. Preferably a powder, and preferably nothing creatine/steroid related.

The best supplement i can think of are amino acids or whey protein

Ive been using supplements for a long long time now and lifting weights, and Protein and vitamins are obviously the most important, but your talking about something to give you that extra boost. The best Legal supp Ive used is called Xpand, made by Dymatize. Its a combo of Arginine (the stuff in NO2) and Creatine Ester all in one. Doesnt taste great, but not bad and Ive gotten great results. (and Creatine Ester is different than monohydrate if thats why you dont prefer creatine; it doesnt retain water or make you bloated, and you keep the gains even after your done taking it). On another note, just because I cant help myself because of some of the answers youve gotten, people who talk about steroids that dont know anything about them are stupid. Since when is someone suddenly qualified to say "they give you man boobs" just because they heard that somewhere once upon a time? Its called gynocomastia, and it happens when you take way way high dosages of the more toxic steroids. In low recomended doses...your naive to think the people in magazines arent on them. Do I support them. Nah. But its still stupid to talk about what you dont know. Eating Peanut butter can kill you, if you eat it till you explode....

Whey protein. And I don't think that creatine is a steroid, the body has it naturally. It's the agent that carries fuel to the muscle. the body only produces enough for little spurts so creatine keeps us going longer.

example:

Egg with milk ( shake it thoroughly) and drink it early in the morning before your workout.

Soyabean thrice a week.

chicken with beer

beef

are some of good musle gaining food. all these are safe and do not damage you.

Milk-Muscle. Its a powder you mix with milk and it tastes good...I tried some of my dads. Its really and energy drink so when you go work out it gives you twice the muscle!

iv actually gained 40 lbs of muscle in 3 months just by eating more peanut butter. my bench increased 50lb, squat 100lb, and power clean 60lb.
