High cholestrol is mostly caused by consuming too much of animal products, especially the animal lipids(the colestrol in dairy products , and fatty meats , eggs and etc.) Otherwise,it can be in your genetical.Even though you follow a good diet with low animal fats, your cholestrol may be high just because you have a genetically inherited cholestrol problem.
You should avoid full fat dairy products, egg yolk, meats that contains fat(even the smallest fat).
You shouldn't consume anything that has animal fat in it.Or at least consume the lighter ones with controlled portions.
Instead, you should use vegetable oils in your food, especially olive oil.Other vegetable oils are also risk free.
If your cholestrol is high, the best thing to do is to consume fresh fruit and vegetable WITH their SKINS.For instance, while consuming cucumber, you should eat it with its skin.(doctors recommend the high cholestrol patients to consume lots of cucumber skin in my country and it really works)Else than that, consuming the pulse really helps to take the high cholestrol levels down.As well as avoiding high fat animal products, people should consume higher amounts of fibre in their diet if they have a cholestrol problem.
If you don't have any problems yet, eating healthily and doing sports regularly and following the rules as much as possible will help prevent high cholestrol problems in the future.

First, I’m not entirely convinced by the 50% divorce stat a lot of people throw around. It seems that the divorce rate among certain groups – people who married in their teens, for example, or who had low educational attainment – is much higher than it is for older people who are better trained and more established. Second, I think divorce is a tragedy – and more so multiple divorces. There are some situations where it is necessary, but most of the time, things could be worked out. The former spouses are still connected by finances and children, if not by strong feelings that linger. They’re never quite quit of each other, at any rate, and so the separation is rarely really completed. I kind of do blame society for this. The idea of serial monogamy has been positioned as an alternative to marriage or long-term domestic partnership, when in reality, the “boyfriend/girlfriend” game is inferior. (That’s right; I said it.)

It's mostly cause by overeating, and eating too many saturated fats. But some people are genetically more prone to high cholesterol than others. There's also the "good cholesterol" that offsets some of the bad... You should have your doctor check your levels and advise you accordingly.

people have long thought high fat diets and over eating of high fats cause high cholesterol and yes it does but recently it has been discovered that heredity plays a huge role in high cholesterol as well...check your family background for this...the best preventative medicine is eating right and maintaining proper weight and EXCERCISE!!!!.....if its heredity this will help too but you may also need additional advice from your physician...high cholesterol is a "tough opponent"

It can be gentic, or because you are overweight or obese, or bcos you are consuming lots of junk food and fatty foods.

Cut down fatty foods, but most important exercise for one hour a day, like walking. if you are slim go to the doctor you may require pills. or if you have cholesterol you may require pills.

Swallow one or two garlic every day, it really decrease it naturally if you cut fatty food.s

It's partly genetics and partly diet/lifestyle.

You can't do much about your genetics. But eat healthy (don't eat crazy amounts of high fat foods like fast food, etc.) like whole grain and low fat foods. (Be reasonable though!) And exercise. See your doctor regularly for screenings.
