OH I love this question...ya see I am of French heritage..Cajun as a matter of fact. I just recently spent 6 months in Canada where half the population is French. My family originated in France and then moved to Canada..then down to Louisiana. However, I have a hard time relating to the country of France as we Americans have bailed them out through two World Wars and yet they can't see their way to support us in our endeavors to fight terrorism. What is it going to take? For the US to get the French out of trouble? Oh and be sure...they will ask someday. Sorry but I get a little angry at the French Government and your people's attitudes.

The supposition that united states is free because of France is rather inaccurate. France's rationale changed into to A) supplant the British in words of economic income. B) The French sought the grandiloquence of besting Britain at some thing... some thing. even as the French did furnish cap, ball and powder in modest sums (shall we no longer overlook that once the defeat of england the French through the priviations of Comte de Vergennes were rationale on controlling united states for economic income) Their "tremendous Fleet" sailed aimlessly about the Atlantic till exhibiting up at Yorktown. The British below siege from September 28 to October 19, 1781 by using American forces augmented by using a small kind of French troops, capitulated even as compelled to understand they were stuck in a pincer circulate presented by using the fleet of count number de Grasse. One may opt to ask why may a monarchy furnish help to revolutionairies attempting to overthrow a monarchy soley depending upon the search for freedom? the answer, simplified is they does no longer. Bragging rights and wealth were the perpetuating causes. And therin, the French hate individuals because they were given neither.

I don't think that at all. We visited France a few months ago. We are stationed in Italy because my husband is Navy, and we really want to see as much of Europe as we can while we are here. Anyway, I couldn't wait to go to France, and the people were so kind and friendly. They knew we were Americans, and they were very respectful and showed our family a lot of hospitality! I can't wait to go back!

I don't think the French hate us. I think they resent us. That's a bit different. The French have not come to terms with the post-WWII collapse of the French "empire" and the loss of all of its colonies. It is no longer a world power and I think that the French resent that America is.

There seems to be the impression in America that just about everyone hates us. I think there should be a clear distinction made between what happens between governments of 2 countries and what happens between citizens of 2 countries.

We Americans are a bit paranoid. In our news, there is lots of news about people in foreign countries criticising America. In addition, we have been repeatedly attacked by terrorists. So I hope you'll understand that we're getting a little bit punchy.
