ARE YOU CRAZY???? SWIMMING WHILE PREGNANT - ESPECIALLY AT 33 WEEKS CAN BE DANGEROUS.

Personally I'd be too afraid of going swimming after having preterm labor and being on bed rest for a bit. However ask your doctor and find out from him if it's ok for you to swim now. You wanna make sure you're not doing anything that could endanger the baby or yourself.

Swimming is an strenuous exercise, and it might easily trigger labor. At 36 weeks, your baby isn't full-term yet; it may benefit greatly from remaining in-utero for a couple of weeks more. In my opinion, unless your Gynecologist tells you specifically that you can go swimming, you should avoid doing it, or any other kind of extenuating activity. Save your energy for labor and delivery time. Call him/her for further advise on this matter; it's better to be safe than sorry, for your own good and the baby's. Good luck, and my best wishes for an uncomplicated delivery and a healthy newborn!

I delivered at 36 weeks my waters broke early after having a shock being stung on a wasp i stood on (very painful btw!) I didnt have chance to go swimming or anything but the did advise that i showered and not bathed in the meantime. But my son did catch an infection because my waters weren't there to protect him, i'm presuming yours didnt break as your not on bed rest anymore. Personally i wouldn't risk it but make sure you ask your midwife, she's (he) is most definately the most reliable person to ask!

Please don't let my experience worry you, it doesnt happen to every baby and it's a very worrying time having your baby taken away to the SCBU (pecial care baby unit) please dont do anything til you ask your midwife or doctor.

Good luck with the delivery!

I wouldn't recommend it. There is a possibility that you could introduce an infection into your placenta since you are dilated and could have lost some/most of your mucus plug during the pre-term labor incident. It is diff rent than if you weren't dilated and hadn't had the pre-term issue, there wouldn't be much chance of introducing bacteria, and the fact that you still have 4 weeks to go gives it plenty of time to breed, multiply and take hold. I would check with my DR.

I went to the hospital at 4 cm, water nevertheless intact, and gained an epidural and pitocin and my son became into right here 6 hours later. My cousin became into basically led to 3 weeks in the past with out dilation, her water broke at 10:30 pm, have been given the epi and pitocin at 5 a.m., toddler arrived at 4:30 pm. there is relatively no thank you to tell...solid success.

I was swimming 4 days before my son arrived, In think as long as your doctor says it's ok, then you and your baby will be fine. It felt so good to be in the water when I was prego, I even did a few hand stands....I got yelled at by my mom who thought I was nuts, but it felt so good to be in the water, I think it helped me go into labor..... Good Luck and Congrats!!!!

Some health care facilities let prego women who are on bed rest float around in a swimming pool. Its very relaxing and takes the extra weight off. have fun!

It would probably be ok so long as your water hasnt broken but call your doctor instead of asking on here... youll get a direct answer from the one that matters most!

As far as I know - you can swim safely unless your water has broken. After that, bacteria can get inside and start harming the baby.

As long as you are swimming in clean water, not lake or pond water, and take it easy then yes. Just don't go do laps.
