On this site I find the militant Muslims hearkening all the way back to the Crusades to justify their actions today. If the Crusaders were such bad guys (and there is a valid train of thought that their actions were simply in response to Muslim takeover of Holy Lands), then aren't the Islamists just as bad today as the Crusaders were back then?

Not to them, this is still an extension of the crusades to annihilate all infidels and non believers. America is one of the known enemy of the Islamic fundamentalists.
