I haven't been riding in years but I know about long hair.Till a few weeks ago I had hair to my butt, and got over 2 foot chopped off.Braiding like you say always comes undone. But have you tried wettin it before you braid? It will help hold it together longer. And use hair gel's to help with the fly aways.Hope this help's!

I have to tie up my hair when I ride too, or spend days trying to pick out the snarls because it's so fine. I put it in a ponytail at the nape of my neck, and then use another ponytail holder about midway to 2/3 down the ponytail so the hair doesn't fly...then a bandana tied around my head like a do-rag to keep the shorter/layered hair in control...only problem for me is, once I put that do-rag on then I have to leave it on cuz it gives me "flat hair" real bad. LOL!

I also have tried the leather ponytail wraps (come in various lengths) but I have a hard time keeping mine, even though it is short enough) on my hair because my hair is so fine...they look kewl though so would be more attractive to wear on the ponytail part if it would work for you.

I'm not a rider but we live near a biker bar and I see them out all the time.
I've seen alot of pony tails pulled thru a ball cap and then a rubber band in the middle of the pony tail and again at the end of the pony tail. Its to keep the hair from going all over the place.

Like someone suggested you can use those leather straps or some other tie besides rubberbands. (or use rubber bands and then use the other over top for a better look)

This used to work for me.
Start with a pull back, secure with pony tail holder, then pull back some more, secure with ponytail holder, kinda like a french braid, but more secure.
Long hair:
Put your hair up in a pony tail, then half way down the pony tail put in another pony tail holder, then towards the end, put another one.
Then, when you are off the bike, you can take the last 2 off, and on easily. This works well for layered hair.

Braid it while wet and then spray with superhold hairspray or gel. Let it dry. Then put on a leather ponytail wrap.
