because we have so much more freedom than most of them do, and they are jealous of that and of the opportunities anyone has in our country to better themselves. They should just stow-away on a boat and enjoy the freedom here too, if they can't afford to buy a plane ticket. But, the rights we take for granted in our country sound like arrogance when we try to assert ourselves in situations where we feel our rights were violated in countries that don't recognize that particular right for their own citizens. That is the main reason. An angry American looks very arrogant to foreigners.

LOL. You can't be serious. As an American, I freely admit that this country is as arrogant as it gets. Most Americans would call that patriotism or pride.
As for you saying that we don't call others immature for calling us names, um yeah ok. We only call them every other name in the book. The French don't support our wars… let's make fun of them and change the name of french fries… real mature. We get into it with a few Arabs… lets call them all sand *******, and towelheads… maturity at its finest.
Americans are the ones that need to grow up and realize that there are many other countries on this planet and they will endure our crap for only so long.

arrogance is multi-cultural and international. I wouldn't generalise any one culture or race as being arrogant. Some people are arrogant, many are not thankfully.
Sometimes I think that arrogance may be an over-compensation for shyness or lack of confidence, but it is an unattractive character trait whatever country or culture the person happens to hail from.

I believe that a majority of us are arrogant. A lot of Americans think that we are better and bigger than everyone else and that's not true.
