Just wondering what you all thought...

I currently have a place to stay until I find an apartment of my own. But I need to find a job. I do not have car. With the money I have saved up I was either gonna go get the apt or buy a car. I figured if I had an apt I can go look for a job at anytime and just walk or use public transportation which is no big deal to me. But then I also figured if I got a car first I could get the car then apply for an apt because they just need to know that you will be making about 3x rent anyways. That dont really need to see it. So i thought get a car so I know I can get to and from work. I dont know.
What do you guys think should be the best way to go about that?

They usually do verify that you work. They tend to want to know that you are going to be able to pay your rent before they will allow you to move in. Get a job first.

Definately get the job first. The renal company will in all likelyhood deny your application if you don't have a reliable source of income listed. And even then, you may have to meet certain minimum income requirements.

Wait on the car. Remember, buying the car is only part of the equation. You've still go to pay for registration, insurance, maintenance, and fuel.

It sounds like you live in an area with good mass transit and that employers would not mind you using it. (Sometimes they ask how you plan to get to work, etc.) Anyway if transportation isn't an issue I would say first go out and look for the job. Once the job is secure it will be easier for you to find an apartment. You can get the car once settled in, etc.

The job will have to come first. You probably won't get accepted for an apartment without it. That is the first thing they ask. If you have access to public transit let the car be for now. This is a really big expense.

Buy a cheap car, then get a job, then get an apartment you can afford based on your income. That way you are not guessing as to what your income might be, but basing your apartment search on your actual income.

Better make sure you get a job first before you incur any bills. What if it takes you 3 mos to get a job and you have to pay rent? Bye bye savings.

Once you have a regular income, then you start thinking about spending money or incurring debt.

Get the job first.. one of the many questions on an apartment application is where you work. No job = no money and no apartment.

No difficulty. they are going to easily go by your fiances earnings. And your buddy? You adult males are engaged and characteristic a third human being? evaluate getting an section on my own - you want birds. merely have your deposit, and achievable first months lease to hand. Have him take his tax returns, affordable rates and bank account statement, and any 401K statement he may have from artwork. something helps. --- No credit required. No condominium history required. I would get the job first. The appt. office will want to run your credit report. It is always nice to have a steady income as well. It also a chance that they will not accept you without a co-signer.
