I am old enough to have lived during that wonderful fashion age. Yes, I said wonderful ! It really started in the mid 60's about the time the Beatles came to the US on tour.
Many of the English band followed, and so did their fashions. I still love retro.
A lot of people think that retro started in the fifties but I disagree. The famous black and white check floors were popular then, and a lot of red were used to highlight, but true retro was during the 60's when the fashions were very colorful, Mod, short dresses and bell bottom pants. We had the tie die shirts, head bands, tee shirts that actually were in color and said something.
My home is done is retro, and everyone loves it. Because, it is very colorful, and since most of my friends are my age, I'm sure it brings back many wonderful memories of that great and fun time in our lives.

Retro, has always been in fashion. It's just that what is considered Retro changes with fashion. As fashion moves
forward so does the category of Retro. Retro is any faddish
thing that might have been in fashion 20 years ago.
Like a car is considered to be "classic" if it's 20 years old.
Music is considered to be "oldies" approx. 20 years after it became popular. Styles are considered to be "Retro" if
the fad was popular over 20 years ago.
Good fashion is good fashion. Sometimes a "wicked good"
fad needs 20 years to cool down and be rediscovered.

Average turn around cycle is 40 years. In the last ten years mini-skirts, bell bottoms, tie-dye have all resurfaced as 'pop' or 'hip'. From the Sixties form furniture is also popular now or variation on that era. Fifties iron works furnishings have been popular for the last 20 years. Mini-cycles or periods of popularity can also occur with-in a twenty year span. Which is a truism with variations on designs that are always going to be there i.e. - The Little Black Dress or The Dark Blazer with casual slacks and Loafers if you get my drift. Ciao! Babe.

It's the fashion now. Currently, there are styles from the 60s, 70s and 80s being mashed together.

"fashion"
"retro" is always the fashion. seems like designers have a hard time selling a new style so they always throw back to what worked before.

60s and 70s. Unfortunately, bell bottoms are a plague against mankind that will survive for eternity.
