It's not compatible. I had the same problem. I couldn't even get a PS1 memory card to save in my PS2.

I don't buy PS1 games anymore b/c of it.

Good Luck.

actually PS2 memory cards do work on a FEW ps1 games.
digimon world works just fine and i think crono cross does too.

most of the newer ps1 games (released after the ps2 was made) should work on a ps2 memory card. if your ones are older, you can play them on a ps2 but not save them on a memory card for a ps2.

because they made separate memory cards. my daughter had ps1 and now has a ps2. she says you can use a ps1 memory card in ps2 console but not the other way around. just the way the company decided to work it. thats all. the company's choice.

you can not use a PS2 memory card on a ps1. because the ps 1 does not have the progamming to. but you can use a PS 1 memory card on the ps 2 . because it is backwards compatible

Because the PS1 and its games was not made with the PS2 in mind.

Sony wants to make money so they're going to make you go out and buy a different memory card for a different console even if they are basically the same thing.

Because if they made them compatible, then how would they make more money off of us, the consumers?
