I had a lawyer that slacked on my case. If anything it screwed me over, and he's expecting a full compensation,, its part of the contract, but you know... its unfair especially since he didn't put as much effort into this, and now I've lost more than I've gained. I wish something were done. Any advice?

A lawyer who breaches the duties of due care, diligence and loyalty can be subject to discipline.

Sometimes it's easy to make out a malpractice case and show that the lawyer's conduct harmed you. Other times, it's difficult to show that what the lawyer did or didn't do made any difference.

Most state bars have departments that handle complaints against lawyers in that state, and deal with fee disputes. Check your local listings.

Complain to the bar association and go after him. You can always find a good lawyer to go after him and get your money back. Just don't assume all lawyers are skeezy. I happen to have a lot of lawyer friends and it's been a big help when pursuing business or when a stupid nephew gets himself in trouble.

Because lawyers are the scum of the earth. Then they become politicians.

You can't beat a lawyer at law, without a better lawyer. Sucks, but its true.

Because they CAN! Lawyers are among the sleaziest scumbags ever put on this Earth - right up there with politicians (most of whom are lawyers).
