Yes, I know exactly how you feel. Just because I am young, people ask me to go clubbing and stuff. I don;t like it. I don;t like the "music" they play and I don;t want to dance. I just can't get it through to some people(young and old) that just because I am a 25 female, does not automatically mean that I want to go to a club and get drunk, etc. Hey if you're local, do you fancy a pint at my local? And a game of darts or something? And listen to proper music?(I bet there will be loads of people here thinking I'm not serious!)

Don't you want to dance to good music, rather than rubbish dance music? The whole point of dancing is that it is fun, you are probably too worried about what you look like to enjoy it.
I can't dance, I look so stupid, and it makes me hot and sweaty, which looks really bad! I tend to only dance when I'm drunk or just dance about a bit at home. Its fun, the whole point of it is that for some reason the human body is designed to get enjoyment out of wiggling, look at a baby or toddler if you don't believe me!
Sometimes its better to do something that you wouldn't choose to be nice to your mates

why would you do something that you don't enjoy doing... and that doesn't bring you any benefits? as much as i know, no one forces you to. oh, your friends call you a party pooper? i'd suggest you either talk to them and explain your choice (and assume it!), or you search for other friends, people with the same interests as you. what can you do if you don't dance at a party? well, you can take part in the games that are being played, you can make pleasant conversation to someone else, you can search for a shy person and make his/her day by breaking the ice and starting the conversation, you can make new friends, you can help the host... just about anything. just don't let the others make you feel bad about it. as long as it is your life, you have the right to control everything that can be controled in it. good luck!

Everyone wants to dance somewhere in their heads. Some people just need a good ole hit of LSD to find their dancing spirit. Of course if you don't want to dance, it should really be none of their business. But I can't say that not dancing kind of poops the party.
I'm not much of a dancer either though. not a big fan of jumping around with 20 other people with in a foot of me. I prefer more open crazy dancing. You know, dancing for the sake of feeling connected to something other than my body.
Smoke pot.

Considering your entire body is dancing to the tune of the universal harmonics already I find this question a little amusing.
Please don't tap a key on your keyboard as you ponder this reply as that could very well be construed as a beat and a finger dancing to a beat might affect the rest of your body.

I love dancing. It is so much fun, but I think it's also an intensely personal form of expression and I can really understand why many people don't want to dance in public x

If its because you dont want thats ok. but if you want to have a bit of fun and are a bit scared, don't worry because I cant dance either, but you dont have to be able to when you dance hard core. I just jump around and sweat. its great when everyone does the same.

I'm right there with you, and I'm a woman. My boyfriend loves to dance and he always yells at me because I won't. I tell him he's the only man on earth who complains because his girlfriend doesn't make him dance.
Anyways, dancing nowadays is so degrading. The few times I've been convinced to dance, some random gross man has come up behind me and stuck his crotch up next to me and... ew!

I understand you - I know others like you......
But what a pity!!! Music fills the soul till you can't take it anymore and it has to come out somehow..... and then you move! I wonder what moves you?
But...if you don't want to dance then DON'T!!! It's a free world.
