Pre-existing inequity with historical basis. Same reason ther hasn't been a woman President yet, why there are few nonwhite Senators, etc. Rich white middle-aged men still tend to have more power than any other group.
No judgement from me, just stating facts.

I'm from America and I don't know how to answer this question.
If you remember history a majority came over from England.
Does the Revolutionary war ring a bell???Then in the 1860's around the time of the civil war there was a large group of people from Ireland came to the U.S to settle here.

People get into office by people voting for them.
there are more white people in the USA
More white people vote.
More people are of Irish and British descents.
The combination of those factors probably contribute to that
