I think everyone should wear what they want to wear. But the thing is you have to have enough self confedence to pull it off and not get all ticked off when those who dont understand say negitive things...Because they are the ones with the issues not you!
Also if it doesnt look good on you DONT WEAR IT! But if you look good in it , then wear it with pride baby!

This has actually gotten progressively worse in some ways
over the last few centuries. It used to be that the detail
and lavishness of mens clothing rivalled and surpassed
women's clothing.

Ultimately, wearing women's clothing is currently perceived
as one step towards being feminine - and I think THAT is
the outrage here, not the clothing themselves.

Culturally, you can point to all kinds of events where people
thought it was absolutely outrageous to cross a particular
line or even get near it (such as inter-racial sex). Most of these
lines are pretty benign, but some (like incest) are not.

No, I am not comparing transvestitism to incest - but I am
saying that sometimes the lines are pretty arbitrary and
sometimes they aren't. Many people feel the same revulsion
regardless.

Why is it so bad to be a feminine man? Well, in many cultures
(including ours) machismo (manliness) is very important
probably to regulate the behavior of the physically stronger
sex. That is, social ettiquette is far more specific about what
a man may not do simply because he has less things
stopping him otherwise.

Maybe its because society views a man's role is to protect his
women and his tribe and clearly the smaller and less masculine
he appears to be, the less effective he is at doing that.

Ultimately, however, I believe it is an extension of homophobia.
That is, men fear that they may lust after, seek and have
sex with someone who turns out to be male and
then be subjected to the ultimate hillarity.

In any case, its a very hard road to travel. I'm afraid the
only thing you can do is keep yourself as safe as possible
and speak out against the people who attack and malign you.

Ultimately, law (and I think society in general) abhors
violence. Even if many people are offended by
transvestitism, they are more offended by assault and murder.

In the last few decades, most societies (excluding American)
have actually begun to relax about homosexuality. This is
why ultimately, I think things are going to get better for
transvestites.

Even though there is no direct link between transvestitism
and homosexuality, I think people will never-the-less
begin to stop fearing and ridiculing the transvestite.

It will take a long time, however. Especially in this country.

I will say this much.....As a boy grows up he is told that boy's don't cry and that as you grow up that men are the stronger sex. So why is this.....it does not make sense ! Women are supposed to be the more calm and well natured sex. Acting as though their physical looks are a higher priority than paying bills. Now.....Befoe everyone get all bent out of shape with me let me say this. It's wrong. Guys have emotions and cry....Girls/Ladies pay bills after all if they are living on their own who else will pay them. This machoism grabage is also wrong I see people walking around on the street and driving their cars and it's got to be a steriotype thing men act like Rambo in the car and MOST not all women are patient althought there are some pushy women. Seeing the way the rest of my gender behaves make me wonder about the reputation that is bestowed apon me when I become a teenager and beyond. My point being is that mabye some men do this because society tells them how to act and if a man should cry or show weakness which does happen then it's like common little girl act like a man as far as dessing goes it all in the taste of clothing some clothes look good on both sexes and don't be so cynical gals how many time ave you borrowed our jeans(today's Jeans I don't know why too bagy !)and shirts you know the colors are much nicer than in men clothing just with common sense know what and when to wear certian articles of clothing.

Well, some of the reason is because certain clothing was made for specific purposes. For example, pants were made for legs....men AND women have them. Right? Bras were made for breast support. Men don't have breasts. Men's briefs, boxers, etc., were made with a slot in the front because of their anatomy. Panties were made small in the front because women have nothing there, and bigger in the back because we have the extra fat needed to protect young in the womb. Dresses were made for hygeine purposes, childbirthing, urinating, etc. Men don't need that.

Aside from all that, there's culture. In our culture, it's not the norm for men to wear bras, panties or dresses. Any time you choose to present yourself in a way that goes against the norm within your own culture, you will be highly noticed and judged. That doesn't mean it's 'wrong' to dress that way. It means that you've gone against the grain. Doing so, by human nature, you will always be mocked. It's just the way it is. Wear what you want, perhaps sparing yourself the ridicule by keeping it indoors. If you choose otherwise, then so be it, but you'll have to face the music. Peace.

Because bras are used to hold BOOBS....unless you are a fat man, most men do not have boobs. Ya wanna wear panties? Go for it, I think it would be uncomfortable. Atleast over clothing is a little more justifyable. This whole question would not be as weird if you had put "skirts and dresses" or something, hell even heels...but womans underwear?? Can that really be comfortable and what point does that serve? I hate bras and wish I didnt have to wear one!

Our society has a pretty strict set of gender norms. You'd think that with the women's movement and the efforts to make both genders equal that the lines of gender distiction might fade a little, but they haven't. Violate what our society says is "normal" for your gender, and you will be ostracized. Morally, nobody can really answer the question of if it is "wrong" to cross-dress. Personally, I don't think that it is morally wrong. It is simply not acceptable to most people in our society. It would be nice if we could live in a world that was a little more accepting of who people want to be.

I think it's sad that we live in a society that judges you by your clothing. Adam and Eve both wore leaves as the first "clothes". Was Adam only supposed to wear maple leaves and Eve wore oak leaves? Maybe instead of passing judment, clothing makers could make a line of clothing that is soft and sensual, but geared for men? Just a thought....

it isn't wrong. It is how people think men and women should dress. That is not to say that I would like to see my grandsons running around in dresses. But, it is a personal choice if someone wants to cross dress and it is NO ONE else's business. If someone makes fun of you...don't even bother to give them a reply. That is what they are waiting for. To get to you. After a LOT of years of worrying about what everyone else thought of something I did, I finally learned "WHO CARES WHAT OTHER'S THINK! It is NONE of their business!" Be yourself and continue to do what makes you happy. Life is too short to worry about what others think and to NOT make yourself happy.
