Is that even a legitimate question? Why wouldn't you ask how white is too white for a person. Why would you ask how black is too black? And I don't think that there should be an answer to anything of that sort. Our country is loaded with racism, and I am not implying that you are racist, but to ask a question like one above, is completely wrong. There is so much hurt going on in children's lives from being teased by their peers for being over weight, not wearing the right clothes, not having the popular friends, and many other issues that they have to deal with and now these children (our future), and other adults have to worry if they are too black? What is this country coming too?

i'm not the representative for all Black people, nor do i wish to be. that's an individual preference & a question to be asked one Black person at a time - not as a general statement to us all.
now if you are asking ME how Black is too Black for me, MY answer is: there is no such thing as 'too Black' for me...as a matter of fact, for ME, that's what makes Black people so unique - we're beautiful any way & any shade we come.
in MY humble opinion...

The beautiful and interesting thing about African-American people is that we come in many shades and colors. The idea of one being "too black" is slave mentality. It makes us look bad. I personally have no color preference. I've dated dark-skinned men as well as light-skinned men. One isn't better than the other.

I guess it's as white as too white is for a white person and as brown as too brown is for a brown person. By the way, something I've always wondered is why do white people tan themselves to a bright orange? Jesus God that's ugly. Ya look like leather and it looks like it hurts too like if they stretched to hard it would rip and meat would just be hangin' out and then they'd have to stitch it back up which would make an ugly scar and then they would have to wait for it to heal and pop right back into the tanning stuff to hide that and then they are going to be even brighter orange and then they would be even uglier.... That just sounds like more trouble then it's worth to me.

Spare me all the PC crap. I have had many black friends and they were highly against dating a black man/woman who was "black as tar". Just like many people are against dating someone who is as pale as a ghost. It's all about what attracts them.

There is no such thing...it is how you are born. I know some that are so black that they are almost like coal, and some that are pretty light ( most blacks in North America have mixed blood anyways)

Folks - stop howling "racist".
The guy is asking if blacks prefer a certain shade of black. Everyone has preferences. Is that racism? If it is, then you are all morons for thinking it.
