till the 20th century dice were usually made from ivory, bone or hard wood (ivory the most expensive version, wood the cheapest).

nowadays the most dice are made of different kinds of plastics, but you can also get dice made from metal (bronze alloys most of the times, i have seen silver and gold ones, but those were not intended for actual use) or even dice cut from semi-precious stones.

Precision casino dice are made from cellulose acetate. Everyday dice are made of plastic, but dice made from wood, bone and ivory are also fairly common.
