I mean I see it on tv but it never goes back to what they are fighting over or what is the reason behind it just being nosy thats all?

An organization called "Hezbollah" (which means "party of God") which is HQ'ed in southern Lebanon, has abducted a couple of Israeli soldiers (a third was taken earlier down south, in Gaza). As Israel began to take retaliatory military action, Hezbollah began firing rockets across the border into northern Israel.
Israel has responded with an intensive attack, bombing airports, roads, and some urban areas within Lebanon. In effect, Israel is acting in a way to "take out" Hezbollah as a threat to northern Israel.
The reasons behind it all... Working backwards, Hezbollah would like to see some people captured by Israel released, so to some extent that is being used as justification for the current actions on their part.
Back in the 1980's Hezbollah became emboldened following the bombing of the US barracks in Lebanon and seeing the US retreat (President Reagan invaded Grenada a few days later to help us forget about this sorry chapter in US military history). Hezbollah has become not only a non-state military force in the area, they are a political party and even a provider of social services. Of course, they are no friend to Israel.
Underlying all of this is the issue of Palestine. The Palestinian people (mostly Muslims) lost their homeland with the creation of Israel in the 1940's. Somehow the parties cannot seem to get together to work out the details of how to establish an independent country of Palestine that can exist alongside Israel.

Death, destruction, and hatred.
The immediate reason for the fighting, according to Israel, is that Hezbollah captured 2 (emphasis on 2) Israeli soldiers, so Israel decided to bomb the s*** out of Lebanon since there are members of Hezbollah there.

This has been going on for 9 days and you still haven't heard what is going, saw it on tv or read about it in the newspaper? Hey man, unplug the ipods, the mp3's and get off the cell phones. To not know what is going on now, when it is explained by all the media every 5 minutes, is lame.

Hamas kidnapped an Israeli soldier, Hezbollah attacked Israel with arms supplied by Iran and kidnapped Israeli soldiers. Then Israel started bombing the heck out of Hezbollah operating out of Lebanon.

It is being bombed by Isreal. The US has cruise ships to get the tourists out of Beruit and take them either to Cyprus or Turkey until they are to get a flight back home
