Practise is not something which you can FEEL. Think of how quick you react on the field when a player comes at you with the ball. Now think of how you first felt when this same thing happened.
Now, because of your practise, the movements you make, the options you know of, you are able to move quicker, more surefooted and meet the player head on. Practise helps you get better in the field, not off the field.

Yes it does. That is why all of the top teams and players practice for hours each day. It might seem that you are getting any better but you will over time.
You might need some new drills as you might be bored with your current ones.

Practice does help. However, you may need some extra help as well. Have a friend or coach watch what you are doing, see if they can help determine where you are making mistakes, then try to correct the mistakes. This will help.

because the change is gradual.

Yes it does help! Practice makes the master. Of course it needs time too. The process is more slowly then you expect it.
