Do you have an older machine?
It's probably sending data to the printer and it's freezing up your computer until the print is completed

Sounds like you're running low on memory. I suggest you add more to both speed up printing as well as your computer's functions.......

Resource conflicts check out the device manager and check out the printer ports(COM&LPT) ecp Printer port (LPT!) click that and check out the resources.
