I've seen both. I actually like Cricket, but I couldn't see myself watching it regularly. It also strikes me as a sport that is rather difficult to televise (I have never seen it televised, maybe they do a good job), but with much larger boundaries, it has to be a challenge.

I like that baseball is a more aggressive game. It adds to the suspense... Is the runner going to try to steal? Are they gonna send the runner from 2nd on a single? Will the runner at first be able to break up the double-play? Are they going to retaliate for plunking one of our hitters?

Good stuff!

I work with a South African guy who says that a 3 or 4 day long cricket match is not uncommon with scores like 450 to 449. Now you have got to be kidding yourself if you think thay anyone in the US or Canada, other than a refugee from the UK or a commonwealth country, would put up with anything that long and boring. Try hitting the ball with a round bat, give the players decent gloves, raise the mound, then let's talk.

Why would we want to see a great sport like baseball sissified by turning it into a model of decorum?

Americans like sports because of their competitive nature, which is reflective of their own great culture. They couldn't care less about refinement in a sport like baseball - if we want cricket, we'll watch cricket. And since we don't watch it, then perhaps that answers your question.

Why is it that so many Euros on here care so much about Americans' sports tendencies? Spend your time worrying about your own "gentlemanly" games, and let us actually watch sports, not contests of prim and proper behavior.

No, I do not want to see baseball players take a break halfway through the game to drink tea.
