this is the first time it has ever happenedthey have always been able to reach it...i have heard that the cervix has a tendancy to move up as you get closer to your due date.

ask your doctor to explain it and ask if it's a problem if your doctor ever gives you an aswer that's an I don't know get a new doctor.
I understand getting a new doctor this late in pregnancy can be scary but hopefully still an option explain the issue to your provider and perhaps they can help you.
As far as where your cervix is the only time I've heard of this happening is when the baby hasn't dropped and the mother has gained an extreme amount of water weight, so much that that cervix is concealed by it, but don't worry I'm sure it is still there. And if they are still getting the babies heart beat and you are still feeling him/her kick regularly then all should be fine.

I wouldn't worry.
Checking your cervix won't tell you anything about when labor will come anyway. It will just tell you what the cervix looks like at that moment. You could be closed up tight one minute and in labor hours later. Or you could walk around dilated 3-4 cm for a couple of weeks.
Cervical checks done by different people will be different as well since it's just their estimate based on what they can feel. Someone with small hands would very possibly assess you differently than someone with bigger hands, for example.
Cervical checks really give no useful information. Tthey're just another way that a lot of doctors try to "manage" your pregnancy and labor. Many midwives NEVER do cervical checks...even in labor! If your water has broken...try to keep them to a minimum (if at all!) since they can introduce infection.

I have a very high cervix as well and with all my kids whenever they check me the doctor/nurse does have a hard time getting an accurate dialation reading. There is not much you can do right now. Just wait it out, it will happen. Good luck.

You cervix is the opening to your womb, or uterus. If he can't reach it than most likely your baby has not "dropped" yet. The cervix can be very high in some women, i know for me, it almost felt like the dr was trying to tickle my tonsils trying to reach it. I'm sure you can find a diagram on line if you still are uncertain of it's placement.

What type of doctor are you seeing?! Does he have very short fingers! What the hell, I do not understand these stupid questions by pregnant women. And to think they are going to raising the next generation, GOOD GOD HELP US
When your doctor said that what did you say??? I suppose nothing! Right?

Why are you just now asking this? Please tell me you know where babies come from and how they get out of your tummy too. I'll give you a hint, you didn't swallow a watermelon seed and the stork doesn't leave a baby at your doorstep. To all people, don't be afraid to ask your doctor a question. That's why they are there.
