Why does my sound go out when I use the shredder?

This is so weird! I am at my desk, and I have yahoo radio playing. When I use the shredder, the sound turns off. But when I use the shredder again, it turns back on with a little popping sound. What is causing that? I'm baffled.

shredder motors are notoriously "NOISY", emitting all sorts of unfiltered electrical and RF signals. Both through the AC line as well as in the air.

I've heard of them turning on and off TVs, Cordless phones, etc,. etc.. Or, simply disrupting TV screens, ohones and such.

I suggest you try plugging the shredder into another socket, relocating it, or buy a line filter for the shredder's AC cord.
