I just selected 2Gb worth of songs on my PC and there were 459 tracks there.
Oooh, i just did it again in a folder full of songs all recorded at 128kbps and its came out at 591 tracks!
So somewhere in between the two I guess :o)

It depends on the length of each song. 1GB=1024 mb
2GB=2048 mb. So suppose each song is having an average 4mb size.Then a 2GB mp3 player will hold 512 songs. So in short a 2GB mp3 player will contain 500 to 600 songs. Remember the size of a song can be sometimes upto 6mb.

My iPod Nano 2GB holds about 500 songs. 489 to be exact. And yes, there would be no way a 2GB mp3 player could hold 1000 songs.

I have an ipod shuffle and it's only a 2gb and it holds only 312 songs.

the easy way would be to your music files and select 550 then a few more till you reach 2Gb

About 500 songs, if your music is average quality and your songs are around 4MB each.
It depends on the quality or kbps of the songs, though.
