well most of us don't (I don't). some do because of the bible-thumping bigotry that we're constantly subjected to.
should we ask why do straight people hide their sexuality?
do people have to walk around with signs stating their sexuality?
no, because it's nobody's business.

They don't. Indeed, there are lesbians who make their livelihood by displaying their sexuality.
But you're speaking of those lesbians who do hide (or, at least, do not broadcast) their sexuality. I know a few such. They have reasons of their own, and the reasons I've heard vary so widely one from another that I wouldn't even dare begin to sort them out.
You're not going to get a good comprehensive answer to this question. Better, if you're really interested, to open up a notebook and then ask THAT lesbian why she hides HER sexuality--but if you've spotted her, she's not hiding it very well, is she?

The problem is that when you say Im a lesbian the first responses from men are usually "Cool, can I watch" or somethin else perverted. As for women they usually say EWWW. If I wanted a guy with me when I had sex I wouldnt be a lesbian and I think that most women are jeolous because they want to experience a woman but are afraid. We are taught from an early age that it is wrong... Break free from stereotypes and live your life!

Generalizations and stereo types are ignorant. Go to a gay bar or a swingers club and see just how many lesbians do not hide their sexuality.

Many don't hide anything, you just don't know what they look like or don't ask. Do you go around asking woman if they are straight, bi, or a lesbian? Does it matter? Not if your not trying to find a date with one. People are people.

What do you want us to do tattoo it on our foreheads? If asked most lesbians will confirm that's what they are. We are just people living our lives. Probably if you really look you'll find a rainbow or pride flag somewhere around us. ;o)

My friends that are lesbians don't hide their sexuality they just don't wear a t-shirt proclaiming it. Nor do I wear one proclaiming that I am "straight".

Not all lesbians do, but some (ok, a lot) of us do because there are many homophobic people that would be nasty to us if they knew.

Since when?????? I know there are a lot of lesbians who hide it because they are afraid to get treated differently or they are in the military so they have to hide in order to stay in thr military..........................
