I am going to choose B.
Not for the reason you might assume.
If I don't get a trophy for a job well done, who cares? I would still know that I did a good job.
But, if I got someone elses trophy on accident, then I already know that I did a great job on other things that I received no trophy for (and my confidence and already existent knowledge on said subject would be enough for other people), and have a trophy to 'prove' that I did a great job on something that I really didn't do so well with (then I only need to show the trophy).
Now it seems like I have an extra skill!
Plus, to see the look on the other guys face when I get his trophy. Priceless. Don't worry: He will get over it, and learn the lesson I mentioned first, so its even better in the end for this guy too!
Wow, what a jerk. Who would write that???

A. In B, you know you did something, even if you didn't get the object to represent it. If you recieved a trophy on accident, you'd think you had done something special, then learn that you didn't, and you would feel worthless.

A - Since I'm not an award-oriented person, it would be embarrassing to receive a trophy or some other form of public recognition, and find out that it was misdirected. I'd rather be good at what I'm doing, but without the fanfare and material acknowledgments.

B. If I deserved to get the trophy, then that would really piss me off if I didn't get it.
