You dont know him at all. If you want to set up a meet have him come to you but not to your home, one never knows. I met my new wife online. But I did not take her to my house or try to go to hers. I met her at a public place, we had dinner and that was only after hours of online and phone conversation. The fact that he proposed in that way makes me very suspicous be EXTREMELY careful. I dont want to see you on my milk carton!

I would be careful of someone who asks you to marry him over the phone without ever meeting you. Why hasn't he actually met someone he can get to know personally. I mean, go out for dinner, a movie, etc. Why did he have to find someone so far away to ask. Sounds fishy to me. Over the phone he can tell you anything about himself, do you really know him, though. How well does your relative actually know him. I just cannot see why someone would have to go as far as finding a wife over telephone conversations.
