Someone said 45, they are great, but have a lot of kick and not the best ladies gun. I have a 38 special (so does my mom). It is small, a revolver, fits in my purse, not much kick, fits well in my hand etc... Its the perfect self defense gun for a women. Please take a class and get your conceal carry permit. Your instructor will help you find the best gun for you at the best price. Good luck and be careful!

the best way to find what you need is go to a gun range that sells guns and get a feel for them and see what feel right in your hand and some time a little gun can have a big kick but another way to get over the so called kick is to go to a gun range i have 9 mm and it not small but not big and at first ever one said it was going to have a kick but i go to the gun range and got use to it and it my best friend when i am alone other than my dogs.
my dad gave all of us kids guns he was big on the right to bare arms but look around and talk to people

Beretta, although you might want to look at the Army Colt clip load 45, it's larger but reliable.

These things are expensive. You a good, reliable, weapon you can expect to pay in the $500 range.

Kahr P45 ($750) 19 ounces, 6"+ long and 5" tall. Not exactly a derringer, but it has stopping power.

Glock 38 which uses .45 Gap. Bigger (7"), heavier (2 pounds) but cheaper aT $650

hello, I recommend a 38 special Rossi 6 shot revolver with an extra long hand hold to control the kick.

it looks menacing if someone breaks into your house but get one that has a trigger that is very hard to pull. You don't want to shoot any one by accident and when your adrenaline is pumping from fear you will be able to fire it if you have to.

I don't know where I got mine.

A .38 special is the best handgun I have ever had the fortune of using. Not much kick, and pretty damn reliable..

google it and see what you find.
