i had a small fish tank without the filter, therefore i change the dirty, smelly fish water that contains fish food and fish wastes, etc everyday. My friend told me that if i use this water for my plants, it would be a great fertilzer. could this be true? what you think?

Sure, its true if you want to kill your plants.

just because the water has the same nutrients as a fertilizer does not make it a fetilizer.

I can almost guarantee that the water in your filterless fish tank will kill all your plants within a couple of weeks.

It will have the same effect as if you urinated on the plant.

Why? because fish waste turns water HIGHLY acidic. While somep lants prefer acidic levels, the majority do not, and those that do cannot stand the extremes that a fish tank will take the ph down to.

Before you pour it on your plants do a ph test and see how acidic the water is. If it is not acidic - test water is green, go ahead and use it.

Otherwise pour it out, if it is yellow it is too acidic and if by somec hance it is blue it is too alkaline.

Sure as long as you dont mind the fishy smell protruding from within your plants. Thay absorb it and give off a stench, even after rain water has washed it all into the surrounding soil. Im not sure how dirty your water gets, but the dirtier, the stronger the fertilizer.

As a matter of fact, a lot of plants do like fish emulsion- which is what that water is. Bon appetit, my little green darlings!
