I have a theory that the human race is descended from some sort of higher deity and our ancestors weren't originally human, instead they were extraterrestrials of some kind (alien, angel, demon, god, goddess, etc.). What's your opinion about this?

It's very possible. Think about how big the universe is. There is no way we are the only life out there. The chance that other beings discovered earth before humans were around is very likely. Not all planets are suitable for life so Earth would have been a good choice to explore.

I think more along the lines of...
The extraterrestrials came to our planet and found a great many apelike mammals living and surviving but only as animals would. I think they took a tiny piece of themselves. DNA, Consiousness, Intelligence. Call it what you will. They added their piece to the existing Mammals and stood back to see what happened.
What has happened is US. At some point we went from being grunting animals to being socialized interacting humans. The link has not been found through archeology and cannot be explained through spirituality. That doesn't leave much else.
Every once and a while I think they come back to make an adjustment or take a sample. I'm not sure why they did it, but I think it is just as plausable as some all knowing all seeing God that created everything in 7 days.
Man if you can believe the crap that churches feed the public, you should be able to believe in aliens.

At last - someone with some intelligence on this subject! I'm not too sure about the descended part - I tend to believe we may be the result of an alien genetic experiment. And if we are descended from them, we've been going in the wrong direction lately!!

I believe that Adam and Eve were created by the Annunaki aliens from the ancient Sumerian texts. They were created by the aliens mixing their DNA with that of a ape woman in Africa. I am not being silly I really think this is true. Read Zecharia Sitchin.
