It's a book based on the accounts of a family that allegedly experienced all of those horrible things. The original movie was made in 1979 and then they redid it just a few years ago with Ryan Reynolds.

I had a field set of The Amityville Horror (1979) Amityville II: The possession (1982) Amityville 3-D (1983) Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes (1989) . i take advantage of to love them! I by no skill study the books in spite of the indisputable fact that.

Yes, a book that was adapted into a movie. Both were quite scary.
Loosely based on a true story (but heavily embellished...) the house was haunted by Indian spirits... It takes place in Long Island, NY.

That's all it is...just a movie. The "true story" part was admittedly, and proven to be a complete hoax. Also, about a month or two ago, Ronald DeFao had his very first interview since he was arrested for the brutal murder of his entire family. "Posession", "evil spirits", nothing like that drove him to do it. He was driven by his utterly and complete hatred towards his father, then shot his mother because she was gonna shoot him. Them he says his sister killed the rest of the family, and him killing her was an accident, but in self-defense. That was the story, nothing whatsoever about the house being haunted or anything.

Yes, it is a movie-2 of them actually, and yes, it is loosely based on a true story. I'm from NY and have seen the house. Spooky stuff. Do a google search, you can read all about it, right down to crime scene photos.

Yes, it has been made into a movie twice. First in 1979, directed by Stuart Rosenberg, starring James Brolin. Then it was remade in 2005, directed by Andrew Douglas and starring Ryan Reynolds.
