I own a DVD recorder (panasonic). It has changed the way I watch TV.
Since one of the inputs is a video cable, I have recorded a couple of things from my VCR. I just unplug the TV end of the cable that connects the VCR to the TV and plug it into the input of the DVD recorder. I then start recording on the DVD recorder and play the VCR. The DVD recorder allws me to make basic edits (divide or shorten program) and allows me to burn DVDs.
There are other products. I have a friend who bought a package to put on her PC. It copies video cassettes onto her hard drive. It has editing capabilities also. She can then burn the digital files onto a DVD.
Your best option is to go to an electronics store, tell them what you want to do & ask them about your options.

Yeah.....what type of cassetes (VHS??) if the answer is VHS then any off the counter VHS to DVD recorder ($100 to $500+). Just make sure to read the fine print to make sure it does VCD and that it meets the standard you need.

yes, best buy sells equipment that records your vhs onto a dvd. otherwise there are places that you can take your old vhs's to and they will convert them. Make sure, if you are going to buy one and do it yourself, that you purchase the right blank dvd's that will match the player and have the right amount of space on them. also if you look online- yahoo.com or on e.bay or something you might be able to find one at a cheaper price.
