The same reason no one likes American tourists.

They don't? I'm in Ottawa right now and people seem thrilled that I have chosen to visit their country.

Now, it could be that some Canadians think that Americans have no respect for Canada, that the US simply wants to annex the entire country. Or they are offended cuz some Americans call Canada "American Junior." While it is true that both countries share a lot of similiarities that I call the "North American culture," the two countries have marked differences.

Of course, there is also the fact that there are a number of American tourists who are just plain rude no matter where they go. Luckily, I think there are even more Americans who love visiting and exploring other countries and cultures.

Who said Canadians don't like American tourists? The pied piper is a bit of a moron, but he probably thinks Canada starts in Buffalo. Why would anyone make such a generalization? Care to let us know pied piper. Or you just going to call me an A$$hole. Anyways I don't hate American tourists and I am not an A$$hole.

Can you blame them?

Even Americans don't like American tourists.

Anyone who has ever lived in N,Y, S.F., L.A., and D.C. can attest to that.

1 - They're disrespectful (t-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops in museums and churches, anyone?; loud yelling in 5-star restuarants?).

2- They complain about everything ("there are too many weirdos, hippies, gays, immigrants, homeless here")

3- They expect everything to be exactly like their hometown ("what is this sushi crap, why aren't their any regular, normal pork chops here?")

4- They always want more for less ("this hotel sucks, even though this is New York City, and being the cheapskates we are -- we only paid 60 bucks for it")

5- They're preachy ("Back in X...we got rid of the environment, and things have never been better", "There ought to be a law against that, like in our state", blah blah blah)

6- They are woefully unprepared and then expect locals to just drop everything to help them because they're soooooo VIP special (If you didn't bother to read up about Skid Row or bring a map beforehand... it is not the duty of citizens and cops to rescue you from the 'hood... nor should local government spend millinos to "clean up the streets" for your arrival. You're not the Pope.)

you may want to talk with someone in Immigration Canada and the american authorities. also, you're not from now on getting to ask those sorts of questions and then call for that only "positive" responses accept. You get the solutions you receive.

That is so not true .Maybe you have had some bad experiences .There's cranky people every where you go .Not just in Canada .Maybe you were rude to them and didn't even realize it .None the less statitics prove Canada is one of the friendliest places to visit in the world .I think it's safe for me to speak on behalf of my fellow Canadians .I apologize for those who may treated you badly .And trust me, we do like you up here.
