You can either boil the denim and skim the wax off the top or melt it with a hot iron and a OLD towel, and some paper towel, place the waxed denim on the OLD towel and the paper towel on the back side of the wax and heat it up the wax should transfer to the old towel and wash out any that's left.
Hope it works, I use it on the carpet when we have candle spills.

First scrape off the bulk of the wax, then place paper towels (3 or 4 layers) on top of the waxy spot and iron on high. That will get out most of what seeped into the fabric. Rinse out the area thoroughly with hot running water.

First: toss it in the freezer for a few hours (even a day) so the wax will get really hard.
Then: Most of the wax should just peel off when you pull it out of the freezer.
Then: For the hard bits use a blunt knife to scrape them off.
Good luck.

This is a weird old Grandma's way... it works okay...

put papertowel under and over where the wax is... then using your iron, iron the area... the heat of the iron warms the wax up, and for some reason it soaks into the paper towel.

Depends on how deeply it is embedded. A fresh chunk, break off as much as you can. Rub the remainder with ice and it should harden it enough to get it out.

If it has already been washed, place about 4 layers of paper towels on your denim and iron the paper towels with a hot iron. Replace bottom paper towel and re-iron. Repeat as necessary.
