They are both brilliant!
If you are a drummer, you would usually play in a group and it is you who would control the feel and tempo for the song. You must have very good timing or else the song would mess up!
As a guitarist, you provide both rhythm and melody. There are different aspects - lead, rhythm or bass. With the guitar however, you can perform a song on your own as well. You could also carry your kit around with you almost anywhere.
If you have a very good fill for rhythm and timing, go for the drums. If you like singing a lot and are good at it learn the guitar then.
Remember, which ever one you learn, as you understand music better, it is easier to learn other instruments as well.

Guitar is better... coz if u wanna play somewhere then u have to haul the entire drum set if u learn how to play the drums. Atleast with a guitar, it's just one in a case and it looks cool coz they'll think you're a rock star... esp. if it was electric... Heheh ;o) U can start with acoustic and start with easy songs... my first song I learned to play on the guitar was an oldie: "Leaving on a Jet Plane" coz the chords are very easy. Good luck !

You should play the drums, because there are a lot less drummers than guitarists. There are like 523,000,000 guitar players, and it seems like there's only 100 drummers. (Ok, that might be a slight hyperbole.) If you play drums it will be a lot easier for you to find a band. Trust me, it is hard to find a good drummer, so the more, the merrier.

Guitar is more useful. You can travel with it and perform for friends, etc. A lot more songs can be played, cooler people play guitar, and drums are loud and annoying at times.

learn both. why? because they are both really easy to learn if you practice. i'm self taught on both and im in a band. plus, a lot of people think its cool when you can play both... especially if you can do it at the same time like me. if you have to choose then pick the drums. they are a lot more fun and easier than the guitar.

How long it takes to learn guitar depends on how good you want to get and how much practice you put in. How good you can get with 1-2 hours a day for a few months depends on what methods you use to practice. There are effective practice methods that will help you make the best use of your time. This course is one of the best. https://bitly.im/aMCMT It's not just about how much you play but how effectively you play that will determine how good you will get.

It depends on which you think you would be better at and enjoy more. For me it would be the guitar, but then I also play ukulele and attempt the harmonica, and will eventually try to learn the banjo, mandolin, and possibly fiddle. That's whats awesome about instruments, they are all wonderful and create lovely and unique music.
