My baby girl is 8 months old and she is only 21 pounds (in a sopping wet diaper) and since we've moved to Texas, everyone seems to have these whale children and my daughter is the subject of constant ridicule, i.e.: "Do you all feed her 'nough food?" and "Oh my she's a tiny lil' thang." (insert annoying Texan drawl, which amplifes the annoyingness of it all) Well, let's see, she was breastfed for 6 months, she's very mobile and adventerous, she can already walk...so she's probably burning off the chunks she did have. So sorry about that. Next time I have a baby (if ever) I will get them a pork lard IV and sit them in a play pen all day with heaps of snacks. How do you reply to this assanine crap while being cordial and humane to people?

I get this ALL the time. My baby is 5 months old and weighs 10lbs 10ozs and is also breastfed. I think formula causes babies to gain too much weight, and since most babies are formula fed, that is what we expect babies to look like. Just smile and say "yes she a sweet little thing and just precious"

I completely know how you feel. My daughter weighs only 11.9. Just this pass Tuesday, someone asked if my child was 8 weeks old. My baby is 5 months. I just smiled and gave her the info. Everyone calls my daughter peanut or she is so tiny. However, I am not in Texas, so sometimes people say , "Oh, how cute, she is so small." I reply jokingly, "Yes, I keep telling my baby that good things come in small packages, for example diamonds." And then I also make a statement of, "Its kind of good that she hasn't grown astronomically, she can wear her cute clothes more often and I get more bang for my buck." After those few comments, people pretty much agree with me, especially about the clothes part.

So just comment on what is really the plus of having a small child. They aren't that heavy to carry around, clothes last longer, and don't the little babies make you want to awe more than the bigger ones?

Well my daughter is 3 and only weighs 26 pounds (and she's 3 feet tall), yep that's right, so you can imagine the comments I get.

People are always putting their 2 cents worth in on how small she is. The next time someone asks if you're feeding them or not, just say, "well no I'm not" and walk off.

I come from a long line of tall skinny people and my daughter is just like them and along with that, she's a picky eater !

You know, you get it no matter what, unfortunately. My daughter is a bit on the chubby side (she is 6 months and is 18 pounds and VERY round - not long) She is exclusively breastfed - so it's not like I am over feeding her or anything...People always make comments about how fat she is or one time when she was fussing in a store a woman said "sounds like she wants to eat - but doesnt look like she needs to though!" Ugh! The truth is, people just run their mouths and like to butt in...I just try to let it roll off my back. If you had a chunkier child, they would make negative comments about that too. As long as she is healthy and happy, then try not to worry about what they say.

I feel your pain! I lived in Texas for a year and yikes, those people! They do think everything and everyone is supposed to be bigger in Texas. I got asked numerous times why I was starving my kids. (they are 6 and 8, tall for their age and weigh 52 and 55 pounds.) I usually didn't have to answer, my 6 year old son would by telling them to mind their business and let his momma alone. lol

I guess you should never have moved to Texas, you know everything is bigger in Texas, or so the Texans say. But everybody else says that the only good thing coming out of Texas are the roads. Where are you from? Lilliput?

Well your daughter is more cute then their kids that is why. their kids are to fat. I had the same problem I have 3 kids all girls they where small. I hate when people think their kids have to suck on ribs all day. Dont let those people bring you down.
