Yes. My current fiancee I met while I was on holiday two years ago and have not looked back since. He will be arriving here tomorrow. If you love each other and are willing to invest the time and effort, it can work.

Have the two of you ever met in person? I am currently talking online and the phone with a man from England (I am in the USA) and we are afraid to meet that it might change the special love we have. It is worth having though because he has been there for me to talk to and cheer me up while going through separation and divorce and its an unbelievable experience to have someone love you without physical contact. We have learned allot about each others cultures too.
