My sister is 9 she likes to rough house and climb trees, her school is telling her she may be Gay, I'm serious. WTF she's Fuc**** 9 let her play soccer and a ride bike. My house is clean and I Like to cook for my self, and people start looking at me funny. What the hell, I don't care about Gay people so I'm not in your way as far as rights or whatever. I'm growing tiresome of this pop/fad gay thing that seems ok to use as a means of definition for others. I'm cool with it because I don't have to deal with it, but teachers at a Grade School telling my sister sh** like that Fires me up, for good reason. They shouldn't do that.
She's a tom boy, I played football in high school and college and she wants to be like me her brother, so she plays with the boys at recess, somtimes she roughs them up, gets into fight. Shes very competitive you know. She said Her teacher pulled her to the side and started talkin to her about what movie stars and whenever she said a female she would be asked

why, is it becasue she's beautiful, or do you like any girls that look like her. Are there any girls in school that you are friends with that you like. She was like no, and left. She told I me I'm like what. Stop putting these definitions on kids. My sister even said I think my teacher thinks I'm gay. I went up there and caused hell but still why would someone do that,.

I don't think it was right either, and I'm a lesbian. What's wrong with her wanting to play outside, ride bikes and climb trees? Sounds like she must be pretty healthy.....
I know it was wrong of them to try and say she was a lesbian. That's way to early for anyone to say if you're going to be gay, straight, bi or whatever. She should still be entitled to being a kid and not worrying about any of those things.
Let me play devils advocate though. Granted, the school did not handle this well, but maybe they are trying to (in bass ackwards wayj) help. Maybe they thought that if she was having questions along those lines that they could help her explain what she was feeling. I will say that (again) this age is NOT appropriate for that.
Don't worry about how people view you or your sister. Tell the school (politely but firmly) that if this happens again, you will have to take it to the next level. No one should try and form her sexuality, except herself. Irregardless of what oreintation she turns out to be, it shouldn't be forced on her.
And, no matter how that pans out, she'll know she's got a big brother that loves her very much.

No, you're not wrong for being angry about this. It's not any of the school's business what her sexual orientation is, and who does that teacher think she is to try and force your sister into the stereotype of the "right way" to be a girl? Your sister is just doing what she likes to do, having fun like any kid should. It's just stupid that the school thinks that she's not playing correctly and must therefore be gay! There's a lot more to being gay than defying a stereotype... if there wasn't, there'd be way more gay people in the world! If she is gay, then that's fine, but if she isn't, that's fine too. That's something she'll have to handle herself, probably at a later age. You should report the teacher/s to the principle or school board... that is not what teachers should be doing at all.
Best wishes to you and your sister.

You have every right to vent in here. However I suggest you vent to the people that really count. Try you local community and school board. Stereo typing does no one any good. She has the right do do what ever she wants to do as long as it is not illegal or against school policies. How dare they try to catagorize here at the age of 9.
I think you need to get your parents involved, and go to the school board. This is wrong.
Last, even if she does turn into a lesbian that is still her up to her. No matter what course in here life she follows I hope you will always love and support her as you do now.

I feel for you...I had a friend in 1987 that was called gay by some dumb azz school personnel...later it was talked about at the PTA meeting...a few months later he committed suicide because of it...needless to say, write everything down that these people say about your sister and if you must tell the principal or school district you will have proof...document everything and if you need to hide an attorney do so...teachers are there to protect not judge...
Good Luck

Have you called the school board and expressed your complaints about this? I would! This is confusing to the child and its bull sh*t to do this to her. I played football in school myself, I am a feminine female and no one ever told me I might be gay. They have no right to approach your sister with that. They are infringing upon her rights.
I'm fired up! She doesn't have to be gay to like to play competitively.
I would start with the school board then your local politicians on this. It worked for me once when I had a legit complaint against a teacher.

What if your sister was known for wanting to cook; wanting to make clothes as her mom or aunt or grandmother, etc.; showed a desire to keep a nice house. And the list continues...
What if her teacher said, "You're so good at all of these things, I bet you're going to make some man a great wife someday!" Gosh! That would infer your sister may be straight! Heaven forbid should THAT ever happen to a child.
You've got a knee jerk reaction and I smell bigotry regardless of how down you are with Gays.
Best Wishes!

I'm gay and I think that if this happened, it is wrong.
It is none of the school personnel's business about any child's sexual orientation... I don't believe it should be brought up by teachers.
This teacher is in the wrong... if it happened as you are suggesting. I'm certain that no school board would approve of teachers designating sexual orientations for nine year olds.

man thats bad,
i had to have a look back at some of your answers and you seem pretty cool and clued up. I would report the school to a higher authority as i do not see what it has to do with them even if she was gay (yes its far too early to assume anything)
good luck man

Your sister isn't the only tomboy at school.
If the teacher told all the tomboys that they might be lesbian, then there is cause to go to the principal.
If not, then I think you've made all this up to expose your own view on gender roles.
Good luck to your sister.

You are right they should not be labeled by the school staff as anything but children. I'm sure they had good intentions but its not really appropriate and could cause more harm than good to the child's confidence.
