How safe is it to give out your driver's license? Is it possible for people who know it to trace everything like your phone number, where you live, SS#, etc just by knowing the Driver's License # even though they never seen my actual license??

If so how are they doing that?

You have to have an official reason to access that information through the DMV. Any ordinary citizen can't do it.

I would at least inquire as to why I am giving my license number before I gave it out. But anyone who has the capability of getting all of your information can do it without your drivers license number.

Here is an easy way to look at life. If someone wants they will get it. PERIOD. You can do everything you can think of to protect your identity and if someone wants it they will find a way to get it.

You can do everything possible to keep you car safe, but if someone wants they will get it.

You can keep the contents of your house as safe as possible, but if someone wants them, they will get them.... This is how life works.

So my way of living is to do whats reasonable to protect myself and move on. Anyone that can get your social from the DL can get it from other public information as well. So live life and be happy.l
