From the way Dubya and you puppets tell it The New York Times created high treason for reporting a story about banking transactions. And of course all those unwilling to think for themselves jumped on the Dubya/Rove bandwagon.

At the same time, on the same day, The Wall Street Journal also ran the same story about the secret monitoring of banking transactions.

Why didn’t Dubya call the Journal’s actions treason? Perhaps it’s because the Wall Street Journal is conservative?

As a great Republican once said:

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -Teddy Roosevelt

Smitty and you other puppets: I'm not a Liberal. I'm a free-thinking moderate who want America to move backs towards the middle where it represents the most Americans. And I'm tired of the lies from the right and left.

OK, I don't agree with the President calling the New York Times (NYT) article "treason." I think a free press must be allowed to uncover and publish what it believes to be illegal activities of the Gov't, otherwise how would we ever know if illegal activity is occuring or not?

That being said, here's why the other newspapers (incl. the Wall Street Journal) weren't called traitors: their publication of the story was based on the NYT publication. The story and research was led by the NYT, and if they hadn't published, none of the other papers would have. Hence they bear the responsibility for the story.

I personally think the NYT actions were laudable, as they did negotiate with the government for some time before publishing, and made the decision based on their belief the story was already out there....

Dont betray the great man that Teddy Roosevelt was

to CEPM: Do you even have an inkling as to what a fascist even is?

I dont think you do. you still have your hands to type right? Therefore there are no fascists in government.

Fascism is typified by totalitarian attempts to impose state control over all aspects of life: political, social, cultural, and economic. The fascist state regulates and controls (as opposed to nationalizing) the means of production. Fascism exalts the nation, state, or race as superior to the individuals, institutions, or groups composing it. Fascism uses explicit populist rhetoric; calls for a heroic mass effort to restore past greatness; and demands loyalty to a single leader, often to the point of a cult of personality.

sounds like DEMOCRATS TO me...blindly following Bill Clinton

what is even more sad is if you read the transcript of the presidential address dated 9/24/01 you will find that the pres himself states that he will do exactly what the times reported that he had done about the banking transactions.

So the NY times actually reported a five year old story that the pres told himself and the right wing nutcases want to call that treason.

Do neocons really think we are that stupid.

Right-wing propaganda is intersting,isnt it?

Conservatives wail and wail about Ammendment rights, but heaven forbid the NY Times prints a true story. But the Times doesnt have the deliberate right-wing slant of the Journal,so that's what they attack.Interesting.

If Bush STILL cant do his job at this point,he should do the honorable thing and resign.

I'm with Teddy!! Well what is even better is that the white house leaked this info and then asked all reporters not to publish this. I think that they should jail all the white house leakers. Then the press wouldn't get any info and then they couldn't complain!

Hunh? The only people who should be arrested and charged with terrorism are the ones who perpetrate it or conspired to. People who speak out in support of Wikileaks have the absolute Constitutional right to do so. Grow up

Most people who support the right here in America, are challenged mentally and the worst thing is they don't see it and think Liberals are the traitors.
