I just read this statement in an article I read only a few minutes ago. I attached the link below.

I am pretty pissed about this. How much does it cost?
Why in the hell would a US citizen need to reimburse it's govorment to be evacuated?

I know they are being waived the fee but why in any case would anyone have to pay. Is it not the govornments responsibility to look after its people? Is it because they are not on US soil? I know people would be allowed to pay after the fact.

Is this why over half of the US citizens in Lebanon chose not to be evacuated?

Don't blame this on Bush I am sure it has been the case for a long time. I am just curious why and how.

According to an American friend of my mother's in Beirut, the US is asking its citizens for $3000.00 each!!! No European, Canadian, or Australian had to pay. People from poorer countries, such as India, are paying though.

The news article you list has nothing to do with americans paying.....and it was indeed suggested at one time, for the reimbursement....however, it is not going to happen.....all these rumors come from articles of three days ago.....and no, many don't want to leave their homes......and they are not worried.....they should be, but they aren't.....
